Porsche direct fuel injection motors can accumulate a significant amount of oil buildup in the intake system despite the factory air oil separator (AOS). Our catch can system is designed to help filter out oil vapors and other crank case particulates and stop them from re-entering the intake system – fouling up your sensors, manifold, and valves.

Many higher mileage 9a1 engines are experiencing significant build up on the intake valves creating drivability issues. The catch can is a great preventative maintenance item for all 9a1 engines regardless of type of use. On one of our test vehicles with a low milage (18K) 9a1 3.8 the catch can accumulated 35ml of oil vapors that had made it past the AOS after only 9 hours of track use. A customer with over 200k on his 9a1 3.4 is using our catch can is seeing a collection of 50ml in 5,000 of street driving. While walnut blasting or manually cleaning the valves may be required we do offer an Intake Cleaning Adapter should you choose to perform an chemical clean using CRC GDI cleaner or similar.

We use top-quality catch cans CNC machined from solid 6061-T6 aluminum, which feature a combination of baffling and stainless steel filtration media to provide plenty of surface area for oil vapor to condense and drop out of suspension. The media does not create any flow restriction and can be removed for cleaning.

Each kit contains a .625 quart catch can, custom-designed mounting bracket, specially designed fittings, all necessary hardware, hoses, clamps, and remote drain system. Our kit is plug-and-play using OEM style fittings that plug directly into the existing AOS and intake manifold systems, and can be installed in about an hour. Once installed draining the can is a 30 second job from under the car.

Designed to fit all Porsche 981 models with 3.4 and 3.8 engines (S, GTS, GT4 and Spyder). We are currently working on kits for 981 2.7 motors as well as 997.2 and 991.1 normally aspirated engines. Have a 2009-2016 911 with one of these engines and are local to the Boston area? Let us know!
