Porsche’s factory motorsports programs have dominated the top class of motorsports throughout generations, from the 917 to the 962 to the 919 Hybrid. But the RS Spyder established a significant legacy by upsetting the top-class prototypes of its era, blazing a trail that is followed by both racing and road-going sports cars from Stuttgart still today. The 963 prototype and 918 Spyder road car are powered by evolutions of its V8 engine but various GT cars equipped with the “Weissach Package” are distinctly inspired by the RS Spyder’s philosophies and our NBR-1s are just the same. The split 7-spoke design carries its inspiration from the all-conquering prototype, while pocketed spokes trim additional weight while maintaining strength and rigidity when pushed to the limit.
